According to market research firm IDC, Windows Phone now has a larger market share than BlackBerry. This is the Microsoft OS market share, in the third operating system after Android and iOS. The absolute market share of Windows Phone, however, remains small.

IDC made the figures for the first quarter of this year. It appears that Android and iOS still the largest on the smartphone market, but Windows Phone is managed to get BlackBerry to catch up. Microsoft now has a market share of 3.2 percent acquired on the smartphone market, while BlackBerry’s 2.9 percent to do. The third place is Microsoft, with, in particular thanks to Nokia, that in the first quarter of this year, 79 percent of all Windows Phone sales accounted for.

Windows Phone and BlackBerry are still in the rear are what in terms of market share. Android now has a market share of 75 percent acquired, which also means that iOS with a share of 17.3 percent on a large backlog. Android has been for some time the first place on the list of mobile operating systems in the hands.

Only for Android, iOS and Windows Phone are the sales figures increased, compared with the same period last year. Android experienced a growth of almost 80 percent to 162.1 million pieces, but Windows Phone grew, in percentage terms, the most: by 133 percent. However, there were ‘only’ 7 million Windows Phones sold. Apple’s iOS registered a small growth of 6.6 percent. The biggest loser is again Symbian, which is now only a market share of 0.6 percent. It is likely that this share continues to decrease, because most of the smartphonefabrikanten Symbian have disposed of.
