Deutsche Bahn is planning to have small drones to test that in in the fight against graffiti. The German rail company every year, 7.6 million euros to the removal of the graffiti and think with drones something to the problem to be able to do.

The drones are equipped with infrared cameras so as to gather evidences against vandals overnight spray painting graffiti on the property of Deutsche Bahn. That evidence can then be used in order that persons legally to prosecute. According to a spokesperson will drones soon to be tested on a large number of treinremises of the company.

According to the BBC, it is still the question of whether the deployment of the drones, however, is legally permitted in Germany, because the drones of people able to film without that they know. Two years ago there was in Germany a lot of fuss about Google Streetview, that Google even stopped the making of new Streetview images in the country.

Another problem could be that the German air traffic control don’t give permission for the drones. Previously got the German ministry of defence does not consent to its own drone, the Euro Hawk, by the German airspace to fly. The military drone would not be able to avoid collisions may be prevented with personenvliegtuigen. The consent is only necessary for larger unmanned aircraft, small drones that are on site to fly that is not necessary. The drones of Deutsche Bahn shall, in principle, on-site fly, so it is the question of whether they are small enough according to the air traffic control.

ProRail tested in the Netherlands recently, the deployment of drones. Here it happened that not, however, to vandals, to detect but the heating in the switches to check. As in Germany, were the autonomous devices equipped with an infrared camera.
