Sony has at NAB 2013-broadcastbeurs in Las Vegas xavc specification extended with a profile for the consumer market. The new video format is going through life as xavc-s and makes use of the mp4 container.
Sony announced the xavc-codec for the professional market in October last year as an open standard, together with its CineAlta F5 and F55-pro-video cameras.
