Mali goes .ml domain names for free distribution

From July 15, will Mali for free .ml-domain names register. The African country wants to be that way themselves on the digital map, and also foreign investors to attract. Mali will be after the Tokelau islands are the second country that free domain names offers.

The infrastructure will be operated by Freedom Registry, which is also the .tk-domains of Tokelau manages. Registrations will be via the Malian AGETIC expired. From July 15, it is possible for everyone to have a Malian domain name register. Still a relatively small population of Mali have access to the internet: only four percent of the population would have direct

access to the internet and there is network coverage for mobile phones in only the half of the country. The .ml-domain currently has less than fifty active websites, reports The Guardian.

Mali would be the second country in the world that domain names are free form. The Tokelau islands offered first a free domain. The .tk-domain proved to be very popular with cyber criminals and web sites .tk-extension are also notorious for the malware they can spread.
