LG will begin selling curved 55″-oled-tv

LG has begun accepting pre-orders for its first curved oled tv. The television, which has a diagonal screen size of 54.6 inches, will cost 15 million Korean won, converted 10.400 euro. For now, the tv can only be in South Korea order.

The curved tv from LG is 4.3 millimeters thick and weighs 17kg. The oled panel features LG’s ‘wrgb’technique, where the panel in addition to a red, green and blue subpixel is also a white subpixel. This would be the production of the white images are better than with conventional rgb panels. The curved panel would be for an ‘imax-like’ viewing experience make. LG will be in the coming months to announce in which countries the curved screen tv will release and at what price.

The curved tv from LG comes not as a surprise; the company showed prototypes of the tv at the CES exhibition at the beginning of this year. Competitor Samsung did that then too, but LG appears to be the first to the mass production of panels to start.
