Lenovo has a new smartphone model is presented with a large battery as the main selling point. The phone has a battery with a capacity of 3500mAh, greater than that of, for example, the Samsung Galaxy Note II and Motorola Razr Maxx.

The phone is a model for China. Lenovo is almost the market leader, but the manufacturer has not yet gained a foothold on the European market. The battery is a lithium-polymer battery and is protected; according to Lenovo, the phone has been equipped with a chip that checks whether the battery really is. That should prevent sellers a nepaccu with less capacity in the phone. In addition, nepaccu’s the name is less reliable and faster defects to show or even to explode.

The exact endurance of the battery, is unclear; Lenovo mentions 3500mAh, but does not say how much energy the battery can deliver. At a standard voltage of 3.7 V it would go to a 12,95 Wh battery. For comparison: Google’s tablet Nexus 7 has a 16,28 Wh battery and the iPad 2 is going to 25Wh.

The large battery makes the IdeaPhone P770 thicker than many other contemporary smartphones; it measures 11.9 mm. Smartphones are due to the increased size, usually thinner, because there behind the big screen a lot of space for the components. Therefore, the thickness of smartphones in many cases are no longer in double digits measured, but remains often under 10mm.

The IdeaPhone P770 is sold as a music phone. He has a 4.5″lcd with a resolution of 960×540 pixels. The device runs on an unspecified 1.2 GHz processor, probably a MediaTek MT6577T, assisted by a memory the size of 1GB. The P770 runs on Android 4.1 with Lenovo’s own skin over it. The phone is from this week available in China and costs are translated between 200 and 250 euros.
