Facebook introduces geolocatiedienst ‘Nearby’

Facebook has, under the name of ‘Nearby’ a new geolocatiefunctie to its mobile applications added. Nearby should small businesses have to be found. Also, companies can be assessed.

Facebook users could already longer location data to link to postings on the social networking site, but these location data were still little accessible. With the introduction of Nearby, available in the new Facebook app for iOS and Android, you have to change in the future.

Nearby can be seen as a competitor for geolocatiediensten as Foursquare and Yelp. The service is co-constructed by developers of the former Gowalla, a company that by Facebook a year ago was taken over.
