Telenet Homespots available for all its internet subscribers

Telenet sets the 600,000 Homespots, hotspots created with wi-fi routers of customers, open to all customers of the provider. Up to now, only customers of the Belgian isp which is itself a protest, use of the hotspots.

This is the target that Telenet at the end of last year formulated. Telenet said that the half a million Homespots wanted to open up. The system works via opt-out; if someone doesn’t want that other customers of his router, he can indicate this. Up to now, only customers who have a modem with routerfunctie built-in, use of the service.

Customers get in the next week an email with login credentials to use the Homespots on the internet, says Telenet. The opening up of routers to them as a hotspot to use is an idea that many providers are already executing. Belgacom makes use of FON hotspots, while in the Netherlands, Ziggo with the idea of progress.
