Owners of MacBook Pro and MacBook Air laptops are complaining on the Apple forum about a significantly decreased battery life since the installation of OS X Mountain Lion. Apple would now try the problems in mapping.

In the Apple Support forum it rains complaints about a significantly lower endurance of the batteries on MacBook Pro and Air models. Some users say that the battery life 1 to 2 hours is reduced, while there are also reports where the battery life would be halved since the installation of OS X Mountain Lion, the operating system that last month, Apple was released.

The exact cause of the decreased battery life is still not clear; according to some forumpostings has Mountain Lion in idle-mode, a higher cpu load than predecessor Lion, while there are also reports about accelerated emptying battery when the laptop is in sleep mode. Some users have tried the system management controller to reset, but this would only be a temporary solace.

Apple now has a questionnaire sent out to affected users in an attempt to bring the problems regarding the decreased battery life, map, reports ArsTechnica. Regarded MacBook users will be asked to collect data from the activity monitor, along with system specifications.
