Two students at MIT have a portable 3d printer designed in a carrying case fits. The detachable printhead can easily be replaced, making it with different materials, 3d objects can be created.

Up until now, virtually all of the affordable 3d printers are anything but portable, but two students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology want to change that. The MIT students Ilan Moyer and Nadya Peek designed a portable 3d printer, which PopFab is called.

The 3d printer is housed in a compact metal carrying case and has a fold-out and removable print head. By the PopFab to link to a laptop can 3d objects be printed. Because the print head is removable, the device with the help of another grating can also be used for cutting vinyl, milling and drawing.

Furthermore, the students that they are the PopFab easily have been able to bring during travel abroad. Or the hardware design of the PopFab as open source available, is not yet clear.
