Corsair has launched two new ssd series’with the name Neutron and Neutron GTX announced. The ssd’s make use of a new controller, designed by LAMD. The ssd would read and write speeds reaching over 500MB/s.

Corsair is the first company that the controller from Link a Media Devices, LAMD, will use and will remain that for the time being excluding. It comes to the LM87800 controller with sata-600 interface. The Neutron and Neutron GTX series differ on only one point: the use of onfi flash memory and toggle flash memory, wherein the toggle memory provides the best performance. The Neutron GTX series offers read and write speeds of respectively 550 and 500MB/s, while the regular Neutron series also read with 550MB/s, but with 370MB/s, slightly slower writes.

The number of iops is in the GTX series to 90.000 for both random read and writes, while the Neutron ssds of 90,000 read and 85,000 write iops. With those specifications seem like the ssd, yet the competition with the fastest ssds of this moment, which is a Sandforce-, Marvell, or Samsung controller. The ssd would continue to work with the latest sata standards, but if that sata 3.1 implies, is not clear. The ssds support trim as error correction, and get out of Corsair’s five year warranty.

The Neutron series, a 120 and a 240GB instance, while the GTX-series plus, is also available in a 480GB version. The amount of memory that will be kept, also known as overprovisioning, is quite large, comparable with many Sandforce-ssd’s. The ssd’s should be in July to purchase.
