ZTE confirms ‘backdoor’ in Android smartphone

The Chinese manufacturer ZTE confirms that there is a security hole is sitting in one of his models. Through the backdoor, a malicious root access and the phone take over. Also sold in the Netherlands model would leak.

ZTE confirms security hole only for the American model, but sold in the Netherlands smartphone Skate would the hole also contain, notify users on various sites, such as Reddit. ZTE does not work on a fix for the Skate, but only for the American model Score, says news agency Reuters.

The vulnerability is in “/system/bin/sync_agent’: a function provided by ZTE the device has been added. With the sending of a line of code, namely ‘sync_agent ztex1609523’ a malicious, the phone take over, reported an anonymous developer on Pastebin. Models other than the Score and Skate, would the vulnerability not have.

The possibility exists that it is in fact a backdoor is for ZTE to gain access to a device. It is possible that that functionality is added in the testing phase for the release of a phone, but the manufacturer no explanation given.

ZTE would have ties with the Chinese government, according to Reuters. What advantage that would have a backdoor on any two phones in the line-up of ZTE is unclear. There is, however, an American study backdoors in network devices of the manufacturer.

ZTE is one of the largest telefoonproducenten in the world: according to analyst Gartner, only sell Samsung, Nokia, and Apple more phones than the Chinese manufacturer.
