Providers put in big cities and in places that queen Beatrix will visit mobile masts in, because people out there, Monday is expected to be more will make use of the networks. This is evident from a tour of magazine Telecompaper.

In cities like Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Den Haag, Eindhoven and Groningen and the capacity of the existing network and temporarily extended, reports Telecompaper. Vodafone does so by mobile masts, through cells, adding to existing masts and by a setting to the existing hardware on the cell towers.

T-Mobile does the same; it adds capacity to existing cell towers in places where the crowds expected. Also in Rhenen and Veenendaal, the places that queen Beatrix will visit, is the extra capacity added. What KPN is doing to the extra demand on catch, is unclear.

The extra capacity is needed because many more people will use their phone, especially also for data traffic. On Queen’s day last year consulted a lot of people especially weather and social media such as Facebook and Twitter via their phone.

Update 13:56: KPN expands the capacity of cell towers in large cities, let the provider know.
