Sony feeds optical storage system with 1.5 TB cartridges

Sony has an optical storage system announced in which cartridges need to be placed. The twelve discs, presumably blu-ray-discs in the cartridge to provide a total storage capacity of 1.5 TB.

Although Sony are very few details of the ODS-D55U is known, has made, notify the manufacturer that there will be up to 1.5 TB of storage possible. Supposedly Sony is in the so-called Optical Disc Archive cartridges twelve recordable blu-ray discs are able to place. These discs would each have four layers to count and are made according to the bdxl specification. This allows each blu-ray disc up to 128GB of data.

The ODS-D200U, which according to Sony is primary intended for archiving of particularly audio and video files, features a usb 3.0 connector. The read and write speed of the optical storage system are not yet known. However, the Japanese manufacturer let you know that the next cartridge 1.5 TB also cartridges with lower storage capacities, want to go to offer up to 300GB. Sony wants to be ODS-D200U-storage system in the autumn of this year on the market. The price is not yet announced. Furthermore, TDK has already announced that the Sony has a license decreased for the Optical Disc Archive standard to as storage media for the device to be able to produce.
