Microsoft denies use information Fox-IT with botnet-action

Microsoft denies that the information of Fox-IT has used in an action against the Zeus botnets. Fox-IT accused Microsoft confidential information without consent, but according to Microsoft that is not the case.

Thursday, accused the Dutch ict security company Fox-IT, Microsoft great errors, have made an action against a Zeus botnet. Zeus is a trojan which will include login details for bankensites buitmaakt. Opposite DarkReading denies Microsoft, however, information of Fox-IT to have abused, such as the Dutch securitybedrijf claims.

Microsoft says the data it has used in the investigation of the botnets, and by publication of the rechtbankdocumenten public have become, both from own research and have obtained, as to have received from other organisations and researchers. The information was allowed by them to be used, claims the company. Fox-IT claimed to understand that a part of the information came from Fox-IT, without the company’s consent had been given.

Microsoft does not respond to the other allegations of Fox-IT. The security company argued that the action against the botnets was not effective; one of them would within 24 hours have been active. Also, Microsoft would legitimate domain names have taken over and would be the privacy of users who were victims of the botnet are not respected.
