Microsoft intends to launch in the first week of June ‘release preview’ of Windows 8. This will be the final test version of Microsoft’s new operating system for the official lwa le release in the autumn.
Windows 8 brings quite a lot of innovations with them. The biggest is undoubtedly the Metro user interface; a combination of a new start menu and a new type of application, specially made for use with a touchscreen. Microsoft hopes the Metro of Windows 8 a successful operating system for tablets.
The other big innovation is support for processors based on the ARM architecture. These are generally smaller and more fuel-efficient than x86 chips, and therefore more suitable for use in smartphones and tablets. Because of the POOR support of windows, Microsoft the Windows 8 kernel as the basis for the new version of Windows Phone.
When Windows 8 released, is not yet exactly known, but it is expected that in september or October of this year. The operating system will be in four different flavors on the market; the standard version, a Pro edition, an Enterprise version and the RT version that is only on ARM hardware running.
