Blackmagic introduces 2.5 k video camera for 2995 dollar

The American company Blackmagic has with the Cinema Camera first video camera announced. The camera contains a 2.5 k sensor with a dynamic range of thirteen stops, and works with both ef and zf lenses.

The Cinema Camera is the first camera of the company, previously, Blackmagic mainly concerned with software and accessories. The sensor has a dynamic range of 13 stops, which is a surface area of 16.4 at 14,04 mm, slightly less than, for example, micro-4/3, and it records images with a resolution of 2432x 1366 pixels. The lensmount is compatible with the EF lenses from Canon and ZF lenses from Zeiss.

The video material can in three different formats to be stored; CinemaDG for 12bits-raw images at full resolution, and ProRes and DNxHD compressed images in full-hd. This can be chosen from the framerates 24, 25, 29,97 and 30 fps. The camera has an opening on the right side where a regular 2,5″ssd inserted can be used for the storage of the footage. According to Blackmagic, you can on a 256GB ssd, 30 minutes of raw video is lost, with a frame rate of 24fps.

The rear houses a capacitive touch screen of 5″ with a resolution of 800×480 pixels.
