Criminals from stealing data, potentially up to 1.5 million credit card holders

Criminals have at payment processor Global Payments via a hack credit card information of up to 1.5 million people captured. That has the payment company to let them know. It was previously assumed to 50,000 victims.

The probability that data of Dutch credit card holders are captured, appears to be small. Global Payments said in a statement to believe that the hack was limited to data from North Americans. The number of people that by the datalek is affected would be a maximum of one and a half million. A more precise figure has Global Payments has not released. Names, birth dates and social security numbers would not be captured.

The hack was discovered, after Global Payments had noticed that unauthorized payments were via credit card details. Have credit card companies payments through Global Playments blocked to prevent further spread of fraud.
