Sony has a new model in its Alpha NEX line of cameras released. The Alpha A57 is the successor of the current Alpha A55V and the body of the Alpha A65 camera. The Alpha A57 is from april available and takes a “body-only” 750 euro.

Sony has the new Alpha A57 camera the small body of his predecessor, Alpha A55V, into the larger housing of the Alpha A65. The body of the Alpha A57, Alpha A65 are virtually identical, only the type number on the front and the lack of the gps-logo on the side indicate the difference. Like all of the other SLT cameras from Sony, the Alpha A57 features a fixed mirror.

Despite the outward similarities with the more expensive A65 camera, to the specifications of the A57 to see that that is the successor of the A55V. The oled-viewfinder with 2.4 million subpixels of the A65 is replaced by an lcd instance with the 1.44 million subpixels.

Also used Sony for the A57, an image sensor with 16.1-megapixel instead of a 24.3 megapixels of the A65. The resolution and the iso range of the A57 differ slightly from those of the A55V, which suggests that Sony for the new camera has a slightly different sensor. That is also evident from the fact that the A57 1080/50p-video, while the A55V, with its image sensor with 16.2 megapixels, 1080/25p as the maximum video resolution.

The A57 is slightly faster than the A55V and can be used in place of 6 photos per second in the continustand 8 photos per second. Is the mode at which the exposure is locked, then a speed of 10 frames per second, while a derived position thereof, with 1.4 x digital zoom, 12 frames per second.

Sony has new functionality for portraits added. With ‘Auto Portrait Framing’ by using facial recognition and the so-called rule-of-thirds is the ideal crop for a portrait is chosen and gecropped. It is also the original is preserved.
