Samsung in its home country to be fined for hindering telecomonderzoek

Samsung is in South Korea fined for obstruction of the telecomautoriteiten during an investigation for price fixing. Previously had the manufacturer been a penalty for price-fixing with competitors and providers in South Korea.

Researchers from the South Korean Fair Trade Commission was given no access to the mobile division of Samsung in the South Korean city of Suwon. When access was granted, there was still only one employee. Also would data on computers was destroyed.

The fine is converted 270,000 euros. Samsung denies the allegations not directly, but in a response let you know ‘high ethical standards’. The manufacturer will also do everything to those standards in the future to maintain’, reports Computerworld.

The FTC condemned Samsung, LG, Pantech and three Korean carriers last week already due to the price-fixing about mobile phones. Samsung is in the past few years, much more frequently convicted for price fixing. Previously had Samsung and LG already have a fine for price fixing for other products, such as washing machines. Also got the Korean manufacturer fines for operating a cartel in the field of lcd’s, crt’s and semiconductors.
