Microsoft shows in 2010 and patent pending on a pair of glasses that can serve as a monitor when playing games. The glasses can be half transparent be made for virtual reality applications and stereoscopic 3d display.

Site PatentBolt discovered that Microsoft had already in 2010, patent-pending on a pair of glasses that is intended for gaming. The glasses may also be built into a helmet. The helmet is according to the application intended for the playing of Xbox games, the glasses for use with smartphones and future devices.

Microsoft wants the glasses so that both glasses have the same view or any other glass with a different image, so that images in stereoscopic 3d can be viewed. The glass is also half-transparent, so that the glasses suitable for virtual reality applications. The carrier can than both the surrounding area as the projected image.

The consolebouwer see a problem. The human eye can’t focus on images so close to the eye. Therefore, Microsoft wants the picture so projecting, that it looks as if it is at arm’s length. The image looks like it is 21″ in diameter, with an aspect ratio of 16:9.

Projecting the image through the lenses is popular. Sony brought the HMZ-T1 on the market, a lenzenfabrikant showed earlier this year, the Cinemizer Oled, Google is working on a pair of glasses in which a hud can be displayed, while Apple had long since a patent granted on a similar system. How far Microsoft is with the production of the glasses is not known. The consolebouwer showed in February, during the annual TechForum, a number of related techniques. So had the manufacturer a 3d-gui with transparent screen and a mirror that can be used for augmented reality applications.
