Baldur’s Gate I and II get Enhanced Edition

Atari, Wizards of the Coast, and Overhaul Games are working on a so-called Enhanced Edition of both Baldur’s Gate when Baldur’s Gate II. When the new versions of the classic dungeon & dragons-rpg’s are for sale is not known.

The development of the new Enhanced Edition of Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate II is in the hands of Overhaul Games, which consists partly of members of the team that is also in the original games worked. That were, in 1998 and 2000, made by BioWare. The original developer, which is just Mass Effect 3 has delivered, however, is not in the production of the Enhanced Edition involved. Overhaul make use of the Infinity Engine that BioWare used to create the original games, though it is a reforged version of the engine, that ‘modern improvements’.

Overhaul Games is part of Beamdog, a company that games for download via its own download service. Both Baldur’s Gate games are classic fantasy-rpg’s and make use of the second edition of the advanced dungeons & dragons-rules. BioWare would later the same engine and the same rules use for games like Planescape Torment and Icewind Dale.

Update, 11:20: Beamdogs Trent Oster has already via Twitter some details about the new games announced. So it goes to two separate games. There is so a Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition and Baldur’s Gate II Enhanced Edition, with the first of this summer will come. The games will be as a download for pc appear. Overhaul Games will be on the gameplay nothing change, and therefore, the second edition of the advanced dungeons & dragons-rules remain true. The studio hopes moreover the same system for savegames to be able to continue to use, so that saves from the original games used can continue to be.
