Newell: Valve makes hardware as needed

In an interview with Penny Arcade let Gabe Newell, founder and managing director of developer Valve, release that his company will not shy away from hardware on the market, if necessary. He is, however, not to jump.

Newell holds across Penny Arcade, the option open to itself hardware to sell if that’s the preferred way is to continue to innovate. “If we have that kind of projects can only begin by developing and selling hardware, then we will do that.” He adds, however: “It is absolutely not the first thought that comes to mind. We prefer to see that hardware vendors who are good at that continue to do so.” Newell also indicates that he has no reason to believe that his company is good in making hardware. “But if it proves necessary, we will do.”

In the same interview, late Newell, to know that he is more conservative with releasing information about games. Valve will, in the future, to wait longer with announcing games. “We want people to not get too excited and then have to disappoint you.” Newell said in the interview, nothing about the long-awaited Half-Life 3 or Episode 3, is an extension of predecessor Half-Life 2, that a long time ago by the studio is announced.
