LG has its first smartphone with quadcore processor announced. The Optimus 4X HD is equipped with a Nvidia Tegra 3, processor cores clocked at up to 1.5 GHz. The ips screen has a diagonal of 4.7″.

The Tegra 3-soc in the Optimus 4X HD has the same 4-plus-1 setup as that in the Asus Transformer Prime tablet. There are four processing cores for heavy tasks and when there is little processing power is needed, the phone can fall back to a fifth processor core, also with a Cortex A9 core. The soc is equipped with its own GeForce gpu from Nvidia.

The Optimus 4X HD has a 4.7″screen with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. LG indicates this ips panel as the True HD IPS screen. The manufacturer makes no mention of its Nova technology, which allows the brightness of a screen is jacked up. Perhaps it is the screen, so there’s not equipped with it.

The battery has a capacity of 2150mAh. LG has opted for a 8-megapixel camera for the back of the device, while on the front a 1.3-megapixel camera is to make use of video chat. The phone is equipped with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Details about the release date and price to be announced next week, during telecombeurs Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
