Sony is going in 2012 and 2013, more NEX lenses release. The total number of available E-mount lenses by the end of 2013 is fifteen, as appears from the new roadmap for NEX lenses that the company released.

In 2012, Sony releases a total of four new lenses from which one, a wide-angle zoom lens, in the previous roadmap all to see. New are a high-magnification zoom lens and a new standard zoom lens.

The expectation is that these last a retractable lens design, so a smaller lens is obtained. At the end of last year came all of a patent application of Sony to the surface for a retractable lens by Sony hinted on the development of smaller NEX lenses. The current 18-55m-kit lens is in comparison with the small NEX bodies are relatively large and heavy.

Another addition is a bright standard prime lens. That could indicate, for example, a 35mm lens because of the 1.5 x crop factor of the aps-c sensor in the NEX-bodies as regards angle of view equivalent to 50mm in film camera equivalents. That is also known as a ‘standard’lens.

For 2013 a zoom lens with a moderate zoom ratio and a new pancake lens on the program. This last will be, because the “snap” -name probably reasonably priced. The focal length of the pancake lens is not known. Currently, Sony has only a 16mm f/2.8 lens in pancake format.

It is remarkable that two of the lenses that are planned for 2012 were postponed to 2013. These are the bright Sony G standard zoom lens and the telephoto-primelens.
