Developers have managed to get the Nokia N9, which would normally run on the Meego operating system, Android Ice Cream Sandwich. A public release of the software is not available yet.

The project is based in part on Nitdroid, that focuses on installing Android on the devices N800 and N900 from Nokia. Currently working with the creators on the working of all hardware under Android on the N9. There is no manual published for the software to install. Among other things, by the lack of OpenGL support would Android ICS on the N9 is still too unstable to rotate.

It is unclear when a release date can be expected. A picture shows that ICS, in any case, boot up to the lockscreen. Also, it has become clear that, after installation, Android and Meego as a dual boot can be rotated. By a volume control knob, press and hold during the boot Android is booted.

Nokia released the N9 with Meego, a mobile operating system that resulted from the combination of Nokias Maemo and Intel’s Moblin. It is also probably the only device from the manufacturer that Meego is released: the Finnish company focus on Windows Phone.
