Dell introduces thin x51 desktop system

Dell has a new desktop system in its Alienware series for gamers announced. The x51 is 95mm thick and can be both vertically and horizontally placed. Dell provides for the system of a Geforce GTX 545 or 555.

A gamingdesktop can the new Alienware hardly be called that. Probably the device users to appeal to those looking for a striking but small multimediadesktop. The x51 comes standard with a Core i3 dualcore and a Nvidia Geforce GTS 545 with 1GB of gddr5 supplied. There are, however, also options for Core i5 and Core i7 models, and what graphics card is the GTX 555.

The system has dimensions of 343x95x318mm and may be horizontally or vertically positioned, with the Alienware logo and naturally can be. To the front there is a slotloading optical drive along with two usb ports and the audio in – and outputs.

In total there are six usb 2.0 ports and two usb 3.0 variants. On the back are hdmi, gigabit ethernet, s/pdif toslink and coax. There are two ddr3 slots, which are filled in by default with 4GB, with the option to upgrade to 8GB. The amount of storage is 1TB, delivered by a 7200rpm drive. In the USA start selling on the 18th of January and the starting price is 699 dollars. The Dutch launch date and prices are not yet known.

Update 13.00: On the Dutch site, the x51 now can be purchased for 799 euros. There are also configurations for 949 and 1099 euros.
