Database internet retail company with 24 million customers may be compromised

Online clothing store Zappos has been hacked. Criminals may have had access to private lwa data of 24 million customers. Whether that actually happens is still not clear. The credit card details are in any case not contacted.

That writes the ceo of the company in an e-mail to customers. A cybercrime may have the private information of 24 million Zappos customers can access. Among the data included e-mail addresses, postal addresses, password hashes, telephone numbers and the last four digits of credit card numbers. The full credit card numbers are not on the street, stresses the company.

Whether there is actually private data are captured is unclear. However, it is certain that someone has gained access to internal systems from a Zappos server. The company is currently working with the police to clarification.

At this time Zappos.com unreachable for visitors from outside the United States. Foreign customers can not login any more; all passwords as a precaution reset. Zappos sells more clothes and shoes. Also 6PM.com that Zappos is related, would be cracked. It is unclear whether that site the same database with customer data used, nor whether there is by that crack even more private information are captured.
