China Telecom enters the European market as a virtual provider

China Telecom, the third largest telecom operator of China, will start soon with its first operations in Europe. China Telecom goes virtual provider offer services through an existing network in the United Kingdom.

China Telecom will focus on Chinese nationals resident in the United Kingdom, reports The New York Times. The Chinese telecom provider has signed a deal with Everything Everywhere, the company of Orange and T-Mobile in the United Kingdom. China Telecom and mobile provider are working on the network of Everything Everywhere.

The Chinese state-owned company has already plans to be active on the European market. It is unclear what the next steps are and whether the provider to the Dutch market. China Telecom is in its home country of China is mainly a provider of fixed telephony. At the end of 2009 there were 194 million customers for fixed telephony, 62 million mobile customers and another 61 million customers with high-speed wired internet. This is 5 to 10 percent of the total number of people with broadband internet access at China Telecom.
