Ontwikkelstudio BioWare has announced that Mass Effect 3 will be available via Steam. Gamers that Mass Effect 3 on the pc want to play, will need to make use of EA’s own downloadplatform EA Origin.

Chris Priestly, the community coordinator of BioWare, left on the forum of BioWare know that role-playing game Mass Effect 3 not on Steam will appear. The reason for this is that Steam demands on the way in which a publisher extra content it delivers to the gamers. BioWare finds these requirements unacceptable. Priestly says that BioWare wants to work with any platform that a developer is not limited in the way of patches and content are offered.

Mass Effect 3 is not the first game from publisher Electronic Arts that is not via Steam. Also EA’s biggest game of 2011, Battlefield 3, is not download via Steam. At the time, gave EA all to not agree to the terms and conditions that Valve providers of games on Steam imposed for the provision of patches and other content.

Priestly gives in his forum post several answers to frequently asked questions about EA Origin. Thus he makes clear that Origin required for Mass Effect 3 to play, regardless of whether the player is a digital or a physical version of the game buy. To the singleplayermodus to be able to play, is a one-time activation via Origin is required. To the multiplayer mode to be able to play you need to have a constant connection to Origin. Mass Effect 3 may have an unlimited number of times to be installed.
