Google activates 700.000 new Android devices per day

According to Android chief Andy Rubin activate Google currently more than 700,000 new Android devices per day. That is a lot more than a couple of months ago and more than a doubling compared to last year.

Rubin made the figures known via Twitter and Google+. In the measurement of the activations would not be looked at to sold copies; only newly purchased phones, which for the first time a connection is set up according to Rubin included.

The growth of the number of devices that the Android operating system runs is growing. A year ago there were still over 300,000 devices per day activated, less than half of the current number. That was in april 2011 increased to 350,000 and in the last summer reported to Google that the number of activations 500,000 per day was landed.

Gartner calculated last month that Android has a market share of 52.5%. A year earlier was 25.3 percent, while the share of the market at the end of 2009 only 3.5 percent.
