Microsoft has Patch Tuesday, the second Tuesday of the month, on which the updates for Windows-based systems are distributed, a patch is released that the performance of systems with AMD’s Bulldozer processor should improve.

The update was as a hotfix available, but now seems no longer to download. What is the reason behind the partial retraction of the hotfix, Microsoft are not known. Whom the update has obtained and installed on a Windows 7 system or a Windows Server 2008 R2 system with an AMD FX processor on board, according to Microsoft, performance improvements noticed.

The update should include the cooperation with the Bulldozer-smt-method to improve. The performance of AMD’s latest vlaggenschipprocessors, the FX-series, AMD’s new Bulldozer architecture on board, fell, however, according to many reviews. That would be partly due to the way Windows tasks to the different available threads in the Bulldozer-processor assign. Bulldozer uses modules with two partial cores, Windows would not correctly deal with the new smt feature.

Tweakers.net installed the update, also on an FX-test system, and then it turned out that the speedups, on average, only 1 percent comes out. Some benchmarks proved even considerably slower be completed after installation of the hotfix.
