Facebook users get new layout profile page

Facebook has Timeline, the new view of the profile page, to be rolled out for all users. Timeline is still not mandatory; users can Timeline itself turn on. The new layout also works on the mobile site and the Android app.

The new layout, which in the Dutch Timeline is called, for users to be activated on a specially created page on Facebook. The new layout is not yet mandatory. Timeline is now available for all users worldwide, Facebook announced. The new profile pages will also work on the mobile site and the Android app, says Facebook. When apps for iOS, BlackBerry and Windows Phone an update to be provided is unclear.

Users can in a timeline of significant events such as birth, marriage and graduation. Can photos and videos be posted. Next to the profile photo can be a ‘cover’ to be uploaded, a much larger picture above the profile shown. In addition, Facebook Social Apps are added to the profile. Those apps, which is under the Social Graph functionality, plug-ins for existing services, as muziekstreamservice Spotify, sportservice Runkeeper and filmdienst Netflix.

Facebook users can use Timeline first seven days to try without the new profile page is visible. After a week the Timeline will go live automatically. Also, the user are the Timeline itself to make it visible for friends.

Facebook announced Timeline a few months ago on the own developer conference itself the F8 key. When was the plan to use it within a few weeks to roll out to all users. What the delay has caused, is unknown.
