A developer has a hidden panorama mode discovered in the software of the camera of iOS. For the feature to activate a user of an iPhone and a developer account in question in Apple or jailbreak needed.

Developer Conrad Kramer made his discovery known on Twitter. The setting EnableFirebreak in the file com.apple.mobileslideshow.plist must be set to ‘yes’ will be set to the panorama mode of the camera to activate. After the configuration file is modified, the function in the software of the camera to be found.

Another developer, Chpwn, a jailbreak app that allows the configuration file automatically can be adjusted. Those who have no gejailbreakte iPhone, has a developer account in question and, presumably, a Mac computer running the development software Xcode required to run the institution can customize.

The panorama mode makes it possible to have a broad picture of for example a landscape. The mode works by the user several photos behind each other, the one that makes the software together to be strung. The software makes use of the gyroscope to determine the correct position for the next picture.

The hidden panorama mode is only in iOS 5. It is unclear whether the feature by Apple after an update by default will be offered. Apple released iOS 5 last month for the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, both iPads, and recent versions of the iPod touch. The iPhone 4S is equipped with iOS 5.

Update Wednesday 13:57: It is not possible to use the panorama mode to activate without jailbreak, says the discoverer of the mode on twitter, in answer to question of tweaker jhogervorst. According to Conrad Kramer, it may be possible, but that is not sure yet.
