Rehm’s Olympic-double-start

Prosthesis, Springer, Markus Rehm gives up his fight for a Start at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. This is the world track and field Federation announced on Friday.

Paralympics winner Markus Rehm dispensed with the long-awaited Olympic double-start in Rio de Janeiro. The prosthesis-far-Springer is not eligible to apply for participation in the Olympic Games, but wants to fight again in September at the Paralympic games medals. This is the athletics world governing body IAAF announced on Friday evening. Previously, Rehm and IAAF had met Secretary-General Jean Gracia, therefore, to be “extremely constructive and positive” discussion.

Rehm want, together with the world involved the Association of rule changes, to allow disabled athletes to participate in world Championships. For it wants the 27-Year-old from Leverkusen in an IAAF working group. Its the world Championships 2017 in London.

Study without evidence results

A
scientific study had recently revealed that the world record holder Rehm (8,40 meters) due to his lower-leg prosthetic right leg during the long jump no major advantages or disadvantages compared with athletes without a disability. “This point can not be clearly stated, that the prosthesis of Markus Rehm him in the long jump or no overall benefit,” it said in the analysis.

Thus, Rehm is not expected to participate in the title fight of the IAAF. Because the rules currently forbids a Start, if an Athlete uses tools that give him an advantage. Proposals for rule reform to be at the next Meeting of the working group in September will be discussed.
