The Dutch police has ip addresses of cyber criminals blocked by the European ip registry RIPE. It’s probably going to be the administrators of the botnet that this week by the FBI was rolled up. There would be millions to be earned.

The Dutch police has four ip blocks blocked by RIPE NCC, the regional ip registry for Europe and the Middle East. That the organisation has been self-published. RIPE gives no reason for the request, but spokesman Wim de Bruin of the National public prosecutor confirms that there is a link with an operation by the FBI where a botnet was rolled up. RIPE is also located in Amsterdam and is therefore subject to the Dutch legislation.

The dismantled botnet relied on a network of rogue dns servers using malware were dns requests of the victims to these servers redirected. That way I could include ads on websites are hijacked. In the action of the FBI were the dns servers of the defendants by legitimate servers, so that victims can continue to use the internet.

Most likely, the Dutch police, the request to have the ip addresses of the botnetbeheerders to be able to use. Until march next year the ip-addresses will not be released; until that time, would the FBI the ip addresses so they can continue to use it. If this scenario is correct, it is not yet known; the AGENCY could not provide comment. Probably it is, however; the FBI has indicated in the action help of the national police AGENCY to have had.

The botnetbeheerders would with their activities at least 14 million dollars have earned. Six inhabitants of Estonia are picked up. They would be the botnet since 2007 in the air held and four million computers have been infected.
