The objective of the project: protection of Olive ridleys turtle. It is threatened by pollution, the theft of their eggs and destruction of nesting areas
Project implementation: With the support of the GIZ and the International climate initiative (ICI) implemented by the Indian NGO Sahyadri Nisarg Mitra your “participatory conservation programme” along the Indian West coast between the villages of Velas and Dabhol, about 100 km South of Mumbai. For turtle protection, the NGO organized visits for tourists, local residents, and education programs for 1200 students from 11 schools in the area.
