The growth of the number of active .en domains in the last few years has diminished significantly. That is according to figures from the Foundation for Internet domain registration in the Netherlands. Where there in 2011 607.000 domain names were introduced, was that in 2014, around 142.000.
The SIDN calculates the net growth of active .nl domain names by the number of removals of domains, subtracting the number of registrations. From this calculation showed that the increase of the number of active .nl-domains in 2014, 47 percent lower than in the previous year.
That is mainly because holders of domain names, more domains to unblock. “Although not one specific cause to point to, we see, however, that holders of multiple domain names more critical look at their portfolio,” writes the SIDN. “Also, non-used domain names more quickly be lifted.”
The number of registrations was with almost 900,000 volumes slightly lower than in 2013, when there 971.000 domain name registrations came in. Because the number of active domains .en is still growing, according to SIDN .en it relatively good compared .in Germany, where growth is lower.
