Chronology of railway disasters

Train travel is regarded as relatively safe. Serious accidents with dead and many injured as the former capital of Germany (the picture) and now in Bavaria are comparatively rare. Here is an Overview:

– August 2014: In Mannheim rams a freight train is a Eurocity with 250 passengers – two railroad cars fall around, 35 people are injured. The engine driver of the freight train had a Haltesignal overlooked.

– September 2012: An Intercity train derailed when Leaving the Stuttgart main train station. Eight people are injured. Already in July, was at the same place an IC from the tracks jumped. Cause each broken buffers on the wagons.

– April 2012: A train meets with Offenbach (Hessen) with a construction Crane train together. Three people are killed, 13 injured.

– February 2000: In a construction site of the railway station in Brühl, near Cologne derailed the night Express from Amsterdam to Basel in a Soft. Balance Sheet: Nine Dead, 149 Injured.

– June 1998: Following the rupture of a Radreifens clash in lower Saxony, capital of Germany, several carriages of an ICE at a speed of 200 against a road bridge. 101 people die.
