HTC and Samsung would not license WebOS, and were also not ge lwa interested in a takeover of the platform. That says an analyst from IDC against Tweakers.net. Only LG would even be interested in smartphone platforms from HP.

HP has all of the major telecom companies, talks about the production of WebOS devices, or an acquisition of the platform. “That HP has now announced to stop developing WebOS and WebOS hardware, shows that the negotiations have failed,” says Francisco Jeronimo, analyst from research firm IDC, in an interview with Tweakers.net. According to him, had HP such notice is not done if there are serious negotiations were conducted. “Then cuts HP itself in a stupid way in the fingers.”

According to Jeronimo, it would only LG still benefit from a license to WebOS or a purchase of the platform. “LG has its maps on Android, but this is still not successful with it. Perhaps they find that they, just like Samsung with Bada, its own platform.” The platform is however not attractive, because providers outside of the United States hardly show interest. “Then there are few possibilities to have devices to sell.”

Within the HP is thought that there is still a chance the sale of a WebOS license to a hardware manufacturer, reports The Next Web. On the sale of the platform would hardly be spoken of. In addition, only a few people inside HP all for the presentation of the quarterly figures at the height of the announcement.
