Public service broadcasting took measures after Anonymous threat

After hackerscollectief Anonymous a few weeks ago an attack was to perform on Dutch radio stations, the NPO precautions taken. The name of the operation was consistent with a 3FM program.

Anonymous published on 22 July a video showing the loose computer hacker group announced on Friday 29 July attack on major radio stations. Although the nature of the attack is not in detail described, hintten the creators of the video that the attack would take place via mail, phone and fax.

The operation had the name Freaknight. Because 3FM a program with the same name, took the Dutch Public Broadcaster the necessary precautions. In the mail is a number of scenarios for the attack explained, including a possible ddos-attack or an attack on the phone lines. The broadcast may include all music and design continue”, writes Rohan te Wierik, manager at 3FM radio, in the mail.
