Samsung sells more smartphones than Nokia

Samsung has seventeen to twenty million smartphones in the second quarter is sold, as is apparent from the quarterly figures. The Korean manufacturer sold more smartphones than Nokia, but less than the new market leader Apple.

Samsung sold in the second quarter, 15 to 20 percent more mobile phones and smartphones, the company informs in its quarterly figures. Despite the expectation that the Korean manufacturer might tell you about the sales of smartphones and tablets, continued to exact numbers. According to analysts from Strategy Analytics sold Samsung 19.1 million smartphones, which it has no market leader. Apple sold 20.3 million iPhones. The Korean manufacturer had in each case a very strong growth in the smartphonesegment: sold last year, Samsung in the same quarter of the 3.1 million smartphones. That growth is mainly thanks to the Galaxy S-line of the manufacturer. The Galaxy S is now available in more than 25 variants being sold, while the successor Galaxy S II since april 5 million times over the counter went.

Samsung saw its market share in the smartphone market rise from 5 percent to 17.5 percent. Big loser is Nokia, which last year was still by far the market leader. When it was 38 percent of the sold smartphones a Nokia, in the second quarter of 2011, it was still only 15 percent. Also last quarter, Nokia is still the market leader with a share of 24 percent. BlackBerry-maker RIM sold slightly more smartphones, but saw its market share nevertheless to decrease.
