Data and opslagspecialist Fusion-io has 95 million dollar start-up IO Turbine was acquired. IO Turbine developed software for virtual environments, where a solid-state cache is used to i/o bottlenecks.

The Accelio software from IO Turbine adds a cache layer to virtual environments, using gemaaakt of ssds. This can Accelio i/o bottlenecks that occur in applications that have a lot of data traffic require of storage. Accelio is, according to IO Turbine, a transparent functioning system for VMware ESX environments with Windows 7 or Server 2008 as a guest operating system.

Fusion-io will pay 95 million dollars for IO Turbine, of which 35 million dollars in cash. The opslagfabrikant expects the acquisition at the end of August to complete. Fusion-io hopes to have an edge on the competition through software and hardware integrated to be able to offer. Fusion-io was founded in 2006 and was started in June of this year to the fair; IO Turbine was founded in 2009, but kept his existence – and that of his technology secret until may of this year.
