Intel’s Haswell cpus, which in 2013 should appear, get support for the still unannounced Microsoft DirectX 11.1. In addition, the new graphics chip are compatible with version 3.2 of the OpenGL api.

According to a leaked roadmap, which is focused on the built-in graphics chips, Intel processors and the applications for which they are certified. Of Intel’s Ivy Bridge cpus, which in 2012, was already known that the igp’s support for DirectX 11. The current Sandy Bridge chips do not come further than version 10.1 of the DirectX.

Intel Hasswell processors would go even further than Ivy Bridge by also version 11.1 DirectX support. This would also be the first igp that the company completely on Windows 8 is aiming for. It is therefore likely that DirectX 11.1 is the version together with Windows 8 is delivered.

If Windows 8 with DirectX 11.1 will be provided, then that would be the frequency with which Microsoft’s new DirectX versions delivers lower. Windows Vista and Windows 7 were, respectively, DirectX 10 and 11 are provided. Between Windows 7 and 8 would then only be a point release of DirectX sit. Or the differences between DirectX 11 and 11.1 as small as the version numbers suggest, it is not yet known.
