Mozilla is a mobile operating system build, where everything runs within a web browser. According to the developers of Firefox, it is possible to all native applications to be replaced by web apps, such as Google does with Chrome OS.

Mozilla has given the OS the name Boot 2 Gecko, or B2G. Gecko is the name of the rendering engine in Mozilla’s Firefox browser. The mobile operating system is still not developed: many of the ideas exist only in the minds of the developers, says Andreas Gal of Mozilla. B2G is not out of nothing developed: the kernel and drivers from Android are used.

The idea is that, thanks to html5, a lot more work via the browser smoothly than before, an idea that Google is more used in Chrome OS. Mozilla want to try out or a whole mobile OS, including applications for calls, sms and other telefoonspecifieke cases, ported to a browser. In addition, when that port security and the accumanagement be monitored.

It is unclear when Mozilla the project want to finish or when for the first time a test version is released. Presumably, such a trial out for existing smartphones. Mozilla is doing until now is relatively little to do with smartphones; there is a mobile version of Firefox for Android and Maemo, and an app for iOS.
