KPN will end this year with a small-scale test to gain experience with the provision of pair bonding on vdsl lines. Also is the telephone company curious as to the experience of the still, to select customers that help with the test.

In may of this year KPN and the presentation of its new strategy known the download speed on its vdsl2 network to increase. The telecommunications company wants to achieve this through the relatively new technology, pair bonding, and the use of algorithms as vectoring work.

The use of pair bonding, where several copper lines are used, had – so said KPN initially – this year, a snelheidsverdubbeling to yield, and throughput speeds of 40 to 80Mbps. With the vectoring algorithm would, in the long term speeds up to 120Mbps may be obtained.

A large-scale rollout, there seems to be this year, however, not of more. KPN has for december, a pilot on the schedule to experience to do with pair bonding. In that test, it will be primarily the delivery process and the customer experience are central. This emerges from a message that KPN earlier this month to its resellers has sent.

Businesses and consumers can not sign up for the test. This process proceeds via the so-called wholesalepartners of KPN; companies that dsl services over the network of KPN offer. These partners have until the end of this month, and potential test customers to sign in, after which KPN at the beginning of september on the basis of, inter alia, the geographic availability of the final participants for the pilot to publish.

KPN wants its vdsl network to further improve in order to better compete with especially kabelaanbieders. Earlier this week it was announced that KPN at the end of this year, the speed of its fastest glasvezelabonnement sharply increases. This subscription is 100Mbps symmetrical to 500Mbps symmetrical.
