A bug in Facebook has ensured that users with a week-long had access to details of some of the screened videos, including the title, description and thumbnail. The videos themselves were not accessible. The bug is now squashed.

The Facebook bug was in videos by friends of a user were uploaded, and only with certain friends were shared. A Facebook-friend who does not have access to this video should have some metadata inspection, discovered TechCrunch. Title, thumbnail and description were visible, and, moreover, allowed unauthorized users to see who’s in the video were tagged.

The metadata were not visible for users who are not Facebook-friends with the owner of the video. This seem to be the implications of the bug are limited, although the fact that the bug is a week-long has been present, shows how quickly a bug in the privacy settings, can sneak. Now has Facebook solved the problem.

Facebook has a difficult relationship with privacy. Facebooks privacy issues, however, go much further back. In 2009, applied for various types of users privacyrechtszaken against the company and in the same year stopped the social-networking site with a controversial advertising program in which koopinformatie of users was shared.
