Lodsys sues EA and maker of Angry Birds to

Lodsys expands its complaint of patent infringement. The American company accuses now also Angry Birds-maker Rovio, Electronic Arts, Atari, Square Enix and Take-Two Interactive. The case revolves around a patent on an in-app payment function.

Lodsys suing a total of eleven companies in the patentzaak who serves in a Texas court. The company, which is known as a patent troll, began in may a lawsuit against Combay, Iconfactory, Illusion Labs AB, Quickoffice, Wulven Game Studios and developer Michael G. Karr and Richard Shinderman. The case revolves around a by Lodsys patented technology for the in-app-purchases.

In an amendment to the indictment has Lodsys’s complaint against the Vietnamese Wulven drop, but instead, five new companies were added. So would Rovio the patent from Lodsys have been with Angry Birds for iOS and Angry Birds for Android. Sued are also Electronic Arts for The Sims 3 for the iPhone, Atari for Atari’s Greatest Hits for the iPhone and the version for the iPad, Square Enix for Big Hit Baseball for the iPhone and the version for the iPad, and Take-Two Interactive for 2K Sports NHL 2K11 for the iPhone.

The case revolves around a license that Apple has the patent from Lodsys. Apple says that iOS and OS X developers under license of the patent to fall. Lodsys goes with the suit against that stance. The company states that developers are responsible for securing all necessary rights and claims so that the defendant companies infringe the patent.
