A former developer from the Wayback Machine of the Internet Archive has created a site to surf the internet, such as in the nineties of the previous century. The site used emulators for old browsers to run and then shows pages from the archives.
The site lets users with a operating system and browser to choose, in addition to a url. If the browser, once loaded, it is fully functional and it is thus possible to use the navigation in the browser.
Old Web Today is a project of Rhizome, an organization from New York that online art is trying to stimulate, and is intended to show how the experience of browsing has changed over the years. The oldest browser that can be accessed is Mosaic, the latest version 40 from Firefox and Chrome.
Pages are, of course, not all the way forward like they were in the past, because some resources are now once gone forever. One aspect of web browsing in the nineties, shows Old Web Today, in any case, again: it is painfully slow for pages to load.
