Vodafone will soon launch an update for its version of the Google-smartphone Nexus One. A lot of people bought the Nexus One, with the idea that they will be the first new Android-updates would get, but that appears incorrect.

The providerversie of the Nexus One is not yet on Android Gingerbread, despite the fact that Google is the new version of the OS in december of last year, has announced. Vodafone is testing a firmware based on Android 2.3.4 and will within a few weeks of roll-out, reports the Dutch fansite AndroidWorld. The update for the version that is not by Vodafone is bought came in February.

The delayed update will be a disappointment for many buyers, because they had expected that the Nexus One as the first or one of the first devices, an update would be given. The Nexus One is the phone that Google as smartphone and sold to developers recommends to first to their apps with new Android versions to test.

It is unclear why the update is so long to wait, but it is most likely that the test will not be a priority. Providers must updates always test to check if things like the internet connection to work. Also new phones should be tested. There were past few months a lot of new devices.

Google announced the Nexus One in January 2010 to raise the bar for other manufacturers of Android-devices. The smartphone has a 3.7″screen with a resolution of 800×480 pixels and runs on a Qualcomm QSD8250-soc with a clock speed of 1GHz. Novelties were among more voice control and a second microphone for noise cancellation. The Nexus One is now succeeded by the Nexus S, which Google made with Samsung. The Nexus One is an HTC device.
